widmers brothers reserve cherry doppelbockFrom Widmer BrothersCherry Oak Doppelbock kicks off a new semi-annual series from the brewery, Brothers’ Reserve. Created for true aficionados, this line allows for innovation and experimentation from the Widmer brothers, with each release bearing the name of the brother who created it (in the case of Cherry Oak Doppelbock, that’d be Kurt). Check out the news release below for additional details. To commemorate the Brothers’ Reserve launch Kurt Widmer has hand-signed 50 bottles, which have been randomly distributed on store shelves throughout the country.

Widmer Brothers – Cherry Oak Doppelbock (Brother’s Reserve Series) – 22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 9% abv.

Appearance: Pours a dark cloudy mahogany with a sturdy 1/8 inch off white head.

Aroma: Sweet and sour cherries, fresh split oak, and plum.

Taste: Strong flavor of oak, sweet and sour cherry, and a subtle spicy hop note. Finishes rather dry.

Mouthfeel: Thick and fluffy.

Overall: A great woody beer with a great use of cherries. Doesn’t taste like artificial cherry, and isn’t super fruity.
