SF Beer Week – Lunch with Fritz Maytag at HopMonk on Super Bowl Sunday
This is BIG GAME day at Hopmonk Tavern if you love craft beer, want to share it with friends, and care to learn more from the source about its roots here in Northern California.
That other thing with the 3:28 kickoff after lunch is just icing on the cake! We’re simply honored to have THE grandfather of our industry on hand to ruminate on a life in and around real beer and his many other quality, entrepreneurial pursuits.
After the beer, we’ll touch on York Creek Vineyards, the Rye Whiskey revival started by Anchor Distillery, pressing olives, Maytag Blue – – you know, the stuff we love. I like what Paul Draper, winemaker for Ridge Vineyards says about Fritz “He carefully, intellignetly examines what makes quality and then goes out and produces it.” And I like what Fritz says about coming from the venerated Maytag family, “We were taught to realize that we were not anything special at all…I was very fortunate.”
Meet 2008 James Beard Foundation Award winner Fritz Maytag February 7, 2010 at 1pm. Hosted by Dean Biersch
Hi-definition game on our mondo sound system to follow!!
