Philly Beer Week At Art in the Age
Art in the Age and Pennsylvania Brewery Historian, Rich Wagner, Present: Chronology of Technology, Philadelphia’s Brewing Industry Exhibition: March 6th- March 31st
Art in the Age is excited to be working with noted Pennsylvania Brewery Historian, Rich Wagner to curate a historic beer exhibit in our gallery, for the month of March. The show will debut on the same day as Philly Beer Week, March 6th with an opening reception from 6-8pm. In addition, we will also be hosting a narrated tour of the exhibition and meet and greet with Rich Wagner on March 11th. The exhibition will feature a timeline of iconic images with captions, from Rich Wagner’s own collection. Presented as label imagery on 99 bottles of beer, this timeline will carefully illustrate the effects of industrialization such as refrigeration, packaging, transportation and architecture, on the Philadelphia brewing industry. Three posters created by Rich Wagner will be on display and for sale: Philadelphia Brewery Directory, Brewerytown-Philadelphia and Brewery Architecture in Pennsylvania. For a modern twist to this exhibition, we have tapped Chris Kline and Jason Hsu to create a custom sculpture, titled “ Beer Stein,” to be featured in our window display. In addition, Art in the Age featured artist, Julieanne Ahn’s iconic t-shirt, titled “Red Plastic Cups,” will be available for purchase at 50% off!
