Oskar Blues Silent Disco At GABF And The Return Of Ten FIDY
Oskar Blues famed headphones-only Silent Disco returns to the 2009 Great American Beer Festival, Sept 24-26 here in Denver. There will be fifty folks shaking their tailfeathers in a special, uniquely quiet dance club created just for the world’s greatest beer festival.
It’s a fine way for GABFers to get a music fix and burn a few beer calories.
Great theater for those watching outside the velvet rope, too. Stacks, polyester shirts, chest hair and The Bump will be welcomed. And celebrated.
The first week of October, our mighty Ten FIDY Imperial Stout begins its return to select stores and beer bars in Oskar Blues states.
Our viscous, obsidian, gentle giant was a huge hit last year, landing rave reviews from beer fiends and a load of accolades. They include “Beer of the Year” (The Denver Post), “100 Rating” (Ratebeer.com), “This one puts the ‘A’ in ‘Holy Crap!’” (Beer Advocate Magazine) and “The biggest, baddest, boldest beer in a can” from Celebrator Beer News
Ten FIDY is approx. 10% ABV and made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Its huge-but-comforting flavors hide a hefty 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s blankets of malty goodness.
Ten FIDY is a limited-release beer and will be sold in fourpacks (approx. $15/fourpack) and very few kegs.
Speaking of heavy hitting treats, here’s Webb Wilder playing one of his all-time greats, “Human Cannonball”:
