Oskar Blues/Deschutes Beer Dinner
On Wednesday, May 21 we’re presenting a special tag-team beer dinner at Oskar Blues Brewery in Lyons.
The night will feature a wonderful, one-night only menu from chef Charles Edson, and samples of many beers from both Oskar Blues and our friends from Deschutes Brewing in Bend, Oregon.
The menu will include Spicy Thai Tempura Pork Rolls, Mulligatawny, Seared Duck Breast over mixed Greens & Sweet Potato Hash, Buffalo Sirloin with Gorgonzola Risotto, and Chocolate Cheese Cake with Caramel Pecans served with Ten FIDY Imperial Stout and The Abyss. Yowsa!
The meal starts at 6:30 and the cost is $45 (that includes tax & tip), seating is limited to 40 people. Call Oskar Blues at 303-823-6685 to make a reservation for this very special dinner.

OB Music Calendar – Weekday Music
Thursday the 8th we will feature K. C. Groves and the Road Agents www.kcgroves.com a special group of local touring artists with Gene Libbea a Grammy award winning bassist and others.
Thursday the 15th The Loose Cannon Bluegrass www.loosecanyonbluegrass.com band from Denver will be here with their great harmonies and fine musicianship.
The Double 8’s will be here the 22nd great rockabilly style band with Scott McCormick from the Boulder Acoustic Society on piano and Ben O’Connor from the Hi- Beams on bass.
Last but not least on Thursday the 29th Lyons own Billy Pilgrims www.myspace.com/thebillypilgrimsband with their all-star lineup and great honky tonk and old time country music.
Don’t forget our great bluegrass pick every Tuesday night touted as the best pick in Boulder County, hosted by K. C. Groves and Eric Thorin.
We also have a Monday night acoustic plug-in jam on the second Monday of every month hosted by Peter Maves, Patrick Cullie and Brian Donnell starting at 7:30pm- 10pm, this month it is the 12th.
We will have the Lyons High school final concert of the year on Tuesday May 6th at 7:30pm and also the Long’s Peak Middle School’s first Oskar Blues concert on Tuesday May 13th starting at 7PM.
Please come and support these great kids, they all sound wonderful and they love to play on a real working stage and really work hard to sound the best they can. Kudo’s to the music teachers around the area that give these kids the opportunity and all the hard work they put in to make them sound sooo good.
OB Music Calendar – Sunday Music
6-9 PM
Sunday evenings will start off on the 4th with a great young organic country band from Seattle called The Starlings www.starlingsmusic.com they are really great songwriters and harmony singers and should not be missed.
The 11th we have local rockers The Interstate Stash Express www.interstatestashexpress.com with Ali’s husband Terry Kishiyama on guitar and vocals get there early, they will rock the place.
Jenn Cleary www.jenncleary.com and her band will play on the 18th from Boulder they play an amalgam of roots rock, folk and country.
The Blue Mountain Ranch Hands www.nancythorwardson.com will take the stage on Sunday the 25th with lots of originals and classic country and western swing songs. Great vocals and musicianship by this Lyons group of stellar musicians.
Weekend Music – Friday and Saturday
9pm-1am
The Bill McKay band www.myspace.com/billmckay1 returns to Oskars on the 9th for another great performance this one will be before a summer run with Leftover Salmon that Bill is doing. Great originals and classic covers from Motown to Bluegrass, lots of dancing goes along with this band.
The winner of the International blues competition in Memphis this year Lionel Young www.lionelyoung.net will bring the band for a performance right after his shows at the Blues awards in Tunica Mississippi and Ground Zero in Clarkdale the two nights prior. Lionel should be pumped up after sharing stages Thursday and Friday in Mississippi with all the blues greats in the world. This should be a special show for sure.
Friday the 16th we will have for the first time Ethyl and the Regulars www.ethylandtheregulars.com this is high-octane honky tonk. The Regulars are Denver’s premier band for western swing, honky tonk and hillbilly boogie complete with pedal steel and twangy vocals. Wear your cowboy boots and dance the night away.
Saturday the 17th it’s rockin’ blues jams with Kelly Richey www.kellyrichey.com and her band from Ohio. Kelly has quickly become a favorite at Oskars due to her incredible guitar ability and rockin’ tunes. She has a brand new CD out that is hot, come on over and get one signed.
The LaPorte Brothers with Dave Richey from the Billy Pilgrims will make their first appearance at Oskars, they play great bluegrass with fine vocal arrangements.
Washboard Chaz www.washboardchaz.com from New Orleans will be here for a rare appearance on Saturday the 24th with his blues trio. They just got back from Italy and France and their new CD Mix It Up is up for best blues cd in New Orleans this year. Chaz is arguably the best washboard player in the world and the trio consisting of harmonica, washboard and guitar really kicks butt.
Friday the 30th will be Chris Daniels and the kings www.chrisdaniels.com the band officially turned 24 in March 2008 one of the longest running bands in Colorado if not the longest. They are as tight as a band gets with everything from swing to rock and roll the party goes on and on when the Kings are in the house. Be there.
We end up the month with the great Bugs Henderson band www.bugshenderson.com from Texas. Bugs was voted by guitar player magazine as one of the 10 best-unknown guitar players in the world. His prowess on guitar is unmatched today so if you like blues guitar player you won’t want to miss this show.
