LAHAINA, MAUI, HI – 1 June 2012 -As food and drink enthusiasts descend up the nation’s capital on June 8 and 9, Maui Brewing Co. will be among the 74 small and independent craft brewers participating at SAVOR: An American Craft Beer & Food Experience in Washington, D.C.
Presented by the Brewers Association, SAVOR is the premier beer and food pairing event in the U.S. In its fifth year running, SAVOR provides guests the chance to sample craft beers from eight geographic regions across the country. To complement the craft beers, attendees will enjoy a reception-style sampling of delicious sweet and savory appetizers from a menu designed by Brewers Association culinary consultant Adam Dulye, Chef/Owner of The Monk’s Kettle and The Abbot’s Cellar in San Francisco, and a select group of chefs specializing in beer and food pairings.
“I’m excited that we were selected to showcase our beers at SAVOR. With our fairly recent distribution to the East Coast, this is a great opportunity to showcase real Hawaiian beer that far away,” said Garrett Marrero of Maui Brewing Co.
“As the benchmark event for craft beer and food lovers, SAVOR is a unique opportunity to try great food paired with beers from small producers that ordinarily only distribute locally,” says Julia Herz, Craft Beer Program Director, Brewers Association. “In addition to meeting the principals behind the breweries, attendees have an opportunity to learn about a vast array of craft beer topics courtesy of SAVOR’s educational presentations. It’s a truly coveted event by beer lovers.”
Craft brewers continue to see increased sales and growing market share, along with praise for their small-batch beers, despite the fact that overall beer industry sales have declined.
During SAVOR, Maui Brewing Co. will be serving CoCoNut PorTeR paired with pecan crusted BBQ beef short-ribs; and the latest limited release, Sobrehumano Palena ‘ole will be paired with duck confit taco, queso fresco and pickled cherry.
On June 8th at 8pm, we will also be hosting a salon, “5,000 Miles from SAVOR: Beer & Food from the Island of Maui”, featuring more beer and more food! Limited seating is available.
