Karl Strauss Beach to Brewery 2010 Thoughts and Video Clips
This past weekend, I rolled down to the Karl Strauss – Beach to Brewery Music and Beer Festival. The weather was beautiful, and I was mighty thirsty for some Big Barrel Double IPA, so I was stoked when I arrived. Unlike some beer festivals I go to, this one is completely different. There is no Star Trek/StarWars/Lord of the Rings convention vibe. The people are so beautiful at this festival, I often wonder if Karl Strauss got together with MTV to provide a cast of good looking folks to attend and have a good time.
I didn’t mingle too much, but I did a lot of observing. People were enjoying the music and more importantly, they were enjoying the beer. I overheard a lot of critiquing of the beer, much more so than previous years. People were chatting about the styles, what they loved, what they didn’t like, and what they would compare it to out in the real world. The big hits of the day were the beers poured at the cask table, 21st Anniversary, Smokey The Beer (see the clip below) and Big Barrel Double IPA. I tried hunting down Brewmaster Paul for a quick word, but by the time I got near him, he was long gone.
Below are some wobbly video clips of the day. I used a Flip Cam, and between walking and feeling “good”, they are the best they can be. Enjoy!

I work for 91x and had a close friend pouring for the event. I drank some amazing beer that is for sure…and with no restrictions. I love this event so much. The perfect blend of music, sun, fun and beer. Great footage 🙂
