Deschutes Brewery Base Camp Hits Eugene & Corvallis Oregon
Deschutes Brewery brings its Base Camp campaign to Eugene and Corvallis for an amazing series of specialty beer tastings, beer and food pairings, and appearances by Woody, the giant beer barrel on wheels. Deschutes brewers, ambassadors and fanatics will be on hand to provide some in-the-trenches insight into our courageously crafted brews.
What is Base Camp you may ask? It’s a place where Deschutes Brewery offers beer fanatics a spot to “pitch a tent” of sorts – and find their footing with the cornerstone of Mirror Pond Pale Ale. Deschutes Brewery Base Camp is a celebration of Mirror Pond’s easy-drinking goodness, along with many more of the brewery’s passion-heavy, pioneering brews.
The Deschutes Brewery team is traveling around to cities all over the west this year, providing passionate fans with a seriously fun exploration of beer. Make the trek to Base Camp. It all begins here…

Come see our giant traveling beer barrel, Woody, the good-times-on-wheels mobile bar. He will be rolling his way all around the Eugene and Corvallis region during base camp, complete with multiple delicious Deschutes Brewery beers, a stereo, and a disco ball. He is a natural gathering spot at any event for all thirsty individuals (and any misplaced members of your party).

WHAT: Deschutes Brewery Beer Sampling
Deschutes Brewery will be at Market of Choice, with samples of many styles of beer. Knowledgeable staff will guide you through your tasting experience. Special offers on beer in the store, plus a free collectible pint glass when you buy some beer to take home. Want to keep the fun going? Step next door to the Base Camp Kick-Off Party at 16 Tons from 6-10 p.m.

WHAT: Base Camp Kick Off Party
Kicking off some celebratory beer drinking made possible by Deschutes Brewery’s Base Camp. We’ll be whooping it up inside with music from Bulls on Parade and outside with the brewery’s giant traveling beer barrel, Woody. The beers we’ll have can’t be found anywhere else – many are straight from experiments done at the Deschutes Brewery Bend and Portland Pubs. Come test your palate on strange brews like LoveChild IPA, Rye-ders on the Storm and Crown Point Brown. We’ll also have favorites like Jubelale and the new Chainbreaker White IPA flowing.

WHAT: Hats Off to Homebrewers
Attention homebrewers…stand up and be recognized! Escort your proudest homebrew to Bier Stein. We will transport it to Bend for a thorough Deschutes Brewery Sensory Panel evaluation. Prizes will be awarded for best label, story, and overall flavor. The Grand Prize Winner will earn a day with a brewer in one of Deschutes Brewery’s brewhouses in Bend or Portland!
To enter: Please bring one 22 oz. bottle of your brew to the Bier Stein on November 16. Attach a creative label to the bottle. Also attach some paper. All with a rubber band. This paper should include: name of beer, style and description, IBUs and ABV (if known), full name of homebrewer, phone number, e-mail address…and the story behind the beer. Then count yourself in! (First 20 bottles only.)
In addition to the Homebrew Battle, receive complimentary brewing supplies including clone recipe booklets and bags of whole flower hops to use in your next homebrew. We will also have some specialty beer tastings and Deschutes Brewery staff will be there to answer all of your beer questions! Hope to see you here!
