Chifa’s Next Beer Dinner Will Feature Cans From Oskar Blues
Chifa Continues Their Popular Beer Dinner Series With Oskar Blues Cans And A Latin-Asian BBQ Theme
Philadelphia, PA – Superstar Chef Jose Garces’ acclaimed Latin-Asian restaurant, Chifa, will continue their successful series of beer dinners on Thursday, July 28 at 7 p.m. with Colorado’s Oskar Blues Brewery. Known for their canned craft beers, the brewery will partner with Chifa’s culinary team to create a one-of-a-kind Latin-Asian Barbecue, featuring inventive twists on classic summertime fare and buckets filled with cans of beer on ice, all served family-style.
The dinner costs $65 per person, not including tax and gratuity, and space is limited, so reservations are required.
“Part of the fun of our monthly beer dinners is adapting our cuisine to pair with each brewer’s specialties – in this case, canned craft beers,” says Chef Garces. “With summer in full swing, we couldn’t think of a better way to enjoy them than with a fun picnic theme and our own interpretations of seasonal treats such as hot dogs and hamburgers, pasta and potato salads and popsicles.”
Menu items will include: Chilled Corn Soup with purple potato, lovage and lime-dale espuma; “Pasta Salad” with soba noodles, edamame and sesame-peanut; Oysters on the Half Shell with Lil Yella Pils, watermelon and black pepper; Curried Deviled Eggs with wasabi salt; Assorted Pickles, including summer squash and watermelon; Peruvian Potato Salad with boquerones, capers, garlic and mint; Korean Hot Dog on bao bun with spicy mustard and sorrel; BBQ Wings with tamarind-orange sauce; Shrimp Summer Rolls with poached shrimp, pickled carrots, scallions and herbs; and Pie Two Ways, featuring peach crumb and blueberry “pie” push-pops for dessert.
Featured beers will include: Dale’s Pale Ale, America’s first hand-canned craft beer with hoppy nose and assertive-but-balanced flavors that was named “Top U.S. Pale Ale” by The New York Times ; Mama’s Little Yella Pils, an uncompromising, small-batch version of the beer that made Pilsen, Czech Republic famous, with gentle hopping and low ABV for easy drinking; Old Chub, a jaw-dropping Scottish strong ale with semi-sweet flavors of cocoa and coffee and a kiss of smoke, named “World’s Second-Best Canned Beer” by Details magazine; G’Knight Imperial Red Double IPA, a hefty, dry-hopped double red ale with a nose full of aroma, sticky mouthfeel, malty middle and unctuous hop flavors; and Ten Fidy Imperial Stout, a titanic, immensely viscous stout loaded with chocolate-covered caramel and coffee flavors, named among the “Top 25 American Beers” by Maxim magazine.
Chifa opened in early 2009 to critical acclaim; The New York Times praised the restaurant’s unusual ability to “kill two cravings [Asian and Latin] with one dish,” while Philadelphia magazine called Chef Garces’ innovative interpretations of Peruvian cuisine “a cross-cultural thrill ride…A meal at Chifa is a night out, a form of entertainment, an infusion of world culture, a culinary education, something to brag about the following day.”
Founded in Lyons, Colorado in November 2002, Oskar Blues Brewery has a singular mission: bringing world-class craft beer to their fans in cans. “We love the way people’s heads spin around after they try one of our four-dimensional canned beers,” says founder Dale Katechis. In addition to providing full protection from oxygen and light, their cans are lined so that beer and metal never touch, as they did in cans of old, and are easier to recycle and ship, making Oskar Blues both environmentally friendly and delicious.
