Beach To Brewery Beer + Music Fest To Benefit Surfrider
The 6th annual Surfrider Foundation Beach to Brewery Beer + Music Fest is being held Saturday, May 9 at the Karl Strauss Brewing Company main brewery in Pacific Beach.
The event will feature 20 beers on tap and ground-breaking indie acts. All proceeds from the event will benefit the San Diego Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our oceans and beaches.
This year’s Beach to Brewery will be special as Karl Strauss is celebrating their 20th anniversary. There will be 20 different beers for 20 years, including special releases like the 20th Anniversary Bourbon Aged Trippel, the 20th Anniversary Dunkel, and an aged Imperial Malt Ball Stout. The brewers will be tapping a different cask every hour and for those interested in seeing the company’s recent brewery expansion and new bottling line, there will be tours throughout the event.
“When we first started this thing six years ago, we had no idea it would catch on the way it has. We’ve sold out for several years now and it’s always a blast seeing people come together over beer and music to support a great cause like the Surfrider Foundation,” says Paul Segura, Brewmaster. The San Diego Brewers Guild will also be present, pouring beers from other craft breweries around San Diego.
In between sampling the wide variety of beers available, festivalgoers will be entertained with live music headlined by indie rockers Tapes ‘N Tapes, with support by Delta Spirit, Get Back Loretta, and Stranger. Radio partner 91x will be broadcasting live from the event.
Committed to supporting the local community, Karl Strauss partnered with the Surfrider Foundation six years ago, with all proceeds from the event directly benefitting the Foundation. “We are strong supporters of Surfrider’s mission and we are proud to have raised over $55,000 in total for our San Diego Chapter,” says Karl Strauss President and Founder, Matt Rattner. In addition to a monetary donation, the company will use 100% organic event t-shirts, divert over 50% of the event waste to recycling, and host an employee beach clean-up prior to the event.
Admission to Beach to Brewery is $20 pre-sale, $25 at the door, and includes 5 free tasters. The event will take place from 2pm-7pm on Saturday May 9, 2009. For tickets and more information visit www.karlstrauss.com.
