Clipper City Brewing Company Wins Two Medals at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival
Baltimore, MD– Clipper City Brewing Company, the Maryland-based brewer, announced today their results for the 2007 Brewer’s Association Great American Beer Festival competition. Clipper City took two medals – 1 Gold and 1 Bronze.
BaltoMarzHon, a traditional Oktoberfest style beer, took the Gold medal in the Vienna Lager category this year, after previously winning the Silver medal in 2006. The beer has an amber color with a rich, toasty malt flavor and crisp, dry finish.
“We are thrilled to receive these medals from this national competition,” said Hugh Sisson, founder and general partner of Clipper City Brewing Company. “To have the same beer take a medal two years running in the same category is quite an honor.”
McHenry beer, named for Baltimore landmark Fort McHenry, took the Bronze medal in the American Style lager category.
“This puts us right there competing with the big breweries in this category,” said Sisson. “We have always wanted McHenry to be a perceived as great ‘local suds’, and this helps establish the brand’s credibility in this important market segment.”
Clipper City Brewing Company, Baltimore’s largest brewing facility producing hand-crafted draught and bottled beers, was founded in 1995 by Baltimore brewing pioneer, Hugh Sisson. The brewery is named for the famous Baltimore Clipper ship, a symbol that embodies Baltimore’s maritime heritage and a commitment to craftsmanship of the highest caliber. The brewery’s brand portfolio consists of the Clipper City brand of “local beers”, the Heavy Seas brand of high gravity beers, and the Oxford brand of exclusively wheat beers.
