Anaheim Brewery Grand Opening – Recap & Pics
Friend of The Full Pint Chris got to visit the newly opened (re-opened) Anaheim Brewery in Anaheim, California. Read on for his brief recap on the place and a couple pictures.
I went to checkout the opening day of the tasting room and it was standing room only after about 15 minutes. The brewery is a resurrection of the original Anaheim Brewery that was in operation in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. The brewery itself is located in a newly redeveloping area next to city hall that will eventually have shops and stores in an “anti-mall” (The Lab) style. Anaheim Brewery has production on site that can be view behind glass walls while sitting at their vintage bar which is reclaimed from a 1970’s bar in the area. The front of the building will be occupied by Unami Burger in December I’m told. Barbara and Greg the owners and brewers seem very cool.
They have 4 beers on tap at the moment that are going to be their staples. A flight was offered for $8 and you got to keep the tasting glass. I started with the Gold which was a nice golden ale which is well suited for BMC converters or introductory craft beer drinkers. Next was a Hef, in German style which I though was a really nice easy Hefeweizen. Third they took you to their Red which had a light hop balance. Lastly is the 1888 which is inspired they say by an original beer that was popular at the time. It’s the highest hopped beer of the four with deep copper color and is akin to a steam beer I believe. Very tasty! I’m looking forward to the stout the Greg says should be coming out later this year. Also a Pale Ale is coming in a few weeks.
Tyler, Kevin and a few others from The Bruery stopped in at the opening as well for a few pints and to show support.
