Weyerbacher Merry Monks Ale
From Weyerbacher – Merry Monks’ is a Belgian style Abby Tripel. To be true to the style, Merry Monks’ Ale is bottle conditioned. This means we add a bit of sugar and yeast just prior to bottling. This imparts a special effervescence to the beer, a creamier carbonation, and also extends the shelf life.
Weyerbacher Brewing – Merry Monk’s Ale – 12 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 9.3% abv. Purchased at Monster Beverage – Glassboro, NJ
Appearance: Pours a deep yellow gold with an amber tint to it. The body is fairly cloudy, and has a luxurious head that subsides to a 1/4 inch cap of froth.
Aroma: Fruit spicy yeast, spicy hops, and honestly, a touch of lysol.
Taste: Fruity spicy yeast, big spicy hops, fruit cocktail in light syrup, light candi sugar.
Mouthfeel: Medium to high prickly carbonation, syrupy.
Overall: Reminds me of your typical rendition of a Belgian Golden Ale, but perhaps a tad more fruity.
