Wachusett Octoberfest Ale
Wachusett Brewing Co. Octoberfest Ale
5.2%
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a chilled pint glass.
Appearance
Clear orange-amber color with a fluffy bright white lacing on the glass. Small carbonation bubbles constantly floating to the top made this beer sparkle.
Aroma
Earthy and grainy. Smells of fall linger through the hops and remind me of a recently harvested grain or vegetable field.
Taste
Surprisingly dull with good balance between the hops and malt. I was expecting more traditional fall flavors but was let down. However, that does not mean the beer was not tasty. It was good enough that I went back for a second.
Mouthfeel
Smooth and crisp with a nice back-end bite to it. This is how all beer should go down the hatch.
Overall
I never heard of this brewery before yesterday when I picked up a sixer for the football game. It was a great price and I enjoyed the medium-bodied style. It is hard to compare to other O’fest beers because this is quite different. I will have no problems trying some other beers in their line. Something about the water in Mass. I guess.
