Victory Golden Monkey
Victory Brewing Co. – Golden Monkey 9.5% abv
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a chilled pint glass.
This ale is a beautiful light gold in color with a decent amount of cloudiness. It almost looks like a glass of fresh grapefruit juice when first poured.
Very malty and flowery from the German two-row malt and European hops. If I closed my eyes, my first sniff would have told me that someone was holding a stick of Juicy-Fruit gum in front of my nose.
This Triple is quite delicious with a harmonious balance of spicy hops and fruity aftertastes. In some aspects, it reminds me of very ripe bananas that have started to turn brown on the outside but are very sweet once the peel is removed.
There is a good deal of alcohol in this beer, that leaves a tangy feeling on the sides of your tongue. The carbonation is not overwhelming but is also definitely noticeable.
This Belgian beer is very tasty if you like rich, malty golden beers. As many of you may know by now, I enjoy high-alcohol beers and Victory has done just that. Half way through my pint glass I was feeling a little buzzed from this delicious and authentic Triple.
