Three Floyds XV Anniversary Baller Stout

From Three Floyds – Three Floyd’s 15th Anniversary beer. A blend of Dark Lord, Surly Darkness, De Struise Black Albert, and Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch

Three Floyds Brewing – Three Floyds XV Anniversary – Baller Stout – On tap at San Diego Strong Ale Festival 2011 – 13.80% abv.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown with a thick tan cap.

Aroma: Chocolate,funk, caramel, coffe and dust.

Taste:  Roasty notes,sweet milk chocolate,sweetened coffee, cooked hops,caramel and table sugar.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied. Not nearly as goopy as Dark Lord or Darkness, thicker than Beek Geek and Black Albert.

Overall: I like it better than Dark Lord, Darkness and Black Albert, but I took away tastes of Darkness  that I don’t care for. Not as sugary, but still too much for me. I would say anyone familiar with the base parts should know what they are getting themselves into. I wouldn’t trade higher than dollar for dollar on this.
