Three Floyds Vanilla Bean Brandy Barrel Aged Dark Lord

From Three Floyds – This is our massive Russian-style Imperial Stout aged for one year in a brandy barrel with Madagascar vanilla beans. Thick, smooth, complex, and warming, this rare beer with certainly be remembered.

Three Floyds Brewing – Three Floyds Vanilla Bean Brandy Barrel Aged Dark Lord – On tap at San Diego Strong Ale Festival 2012 – 15.5% abv.

Appearance: Pours dark brown with a thin brown head.

Aroma: Huge brandy. Vanilla chocolate dark fruit. Coffee.

Taste: Sweet brandy, chocolate, vanilla, coconut and maraschino cherry.

Mouthfeel:  Syrupy with low carbonation.

Overall: Infinitely better than regular Dark Lord, but I wouldn’t place it higher than Bourbon Barrel Aged DarkLord. Pretty awesome beer.
