Three Floyds Fantabulous Resplendence X Anniversary
Hands down, the best part of my visit to Three Floyds Brew Pub, was the chance to taste brews that don’t make it outside of the facility. I understand Three Floyds bottled their 10th anniversary offering, but I felt privileged to have tried it on tap. My first request before even looking at the beer list was Dreadnaught, however they did not have it on tap. That is when my eye caught Fantabulous Resplendence (aka X).
Appearance: Served in a 10 oz tulip glass, was drawn a peach/orange color with 1/16″ head. Plenty of light gets through, but no objects can be seen through it.
Aroma: Strong three way fight between citrus, caramel and pine. All three fight for your nose’s attention.
Taste: Pine tree, lemon and a hint of malt. Very similar to Russian River’s Pliny the Elder in the taste department.
Mouthfeel: Syrupy and perfectly carbonated. Pine notes coat your mouth.
Drinkability: For as thick and syrup and strong as it is, you could drink as much as your alcohol tollerance will let you. I like this far better than Dreadnaught, and would put it next to Pliny the Elder, Hop Suey, and other world class Double IPA’s. Am I selfish for wishing this was A) a year ’round release and B) available in California?
