Three Floyds Dark Lord Aged in Cognac Barrels
Was very fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time. A group of friends brought all the 2012 Barrel Aged Dark Lord Variants to the Rate Beer Summer Gathering Grand Tasting.
Three Floyds Brewing – Three Floyds Dark Lord Aged in Cognac Barrels – 22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 15% abv.
Appearance: Pours a dark brown with a tan ring and tan swirls.
Aroma: Big cognac, chocolate cereal, caramel.
Taste: Dusty chocolate, reduced cognac, coffee, dark fruit.
Mouthfeel: Sticky,thick,soft carbonation.
Overall: Very tasty and surprisingly different between the bourbon and brandy variations. I like Dark Lord much better aged in a barrel than on it’s own.
