The Bruery – The Bruery White Oak Wheat Wine – Poured from growler to a goblet. 12% abv.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy amber gold with a creamy looking 1/4 inch head.
Aroma: White wine cork and butterscotch sauce you would drizzle on ice cream. As it warms, I get a nice whiff of kettle corn, that replaces that butterscotch sauce.
Taste: White wine, green apple, caramel, and lots of woody oak notes. Finishes with moderately spicy hops.
Mouthfeel: Thin to medium bodied and rather velvety. Ever so slightly astringent on the tongue.
Overall: I had a really small sample a month or two ago, and this beer was “hot.” Fast forwarding to this review, the beer has some really interesting complexities, and I am finding it really fun and enjoyable to drink. I’m amazed at the caramel sugar presence that takes a back seat to everything else in the beer. Let’s hope this gets bottled for more people to enjoy.
