Terrapin Side Project Boom Shakalager

From Terrapin Beer – Volume 11 in our Side Project Series of beers is The Terrapin Boom Shakalager! This out of the box Imperial Lager weighs in at a hefty 9.0% ABV. Handcrafted with all German malts, hops and yeast it has an aggressive flavor that will wind most anyone’s Cuckoo clock. This amber elixir has an aggressive balance of sweetness and bitterness that is complemented by a bombardment of citrus from dry hopping with German Tettnanger hops.

Terrapin Beer Co. – Terrapin Side Project Boom Shakalager – 22 oz. bottle poured into an English pint glass. 9% abv.

Appearance: Pours a vibrant orange amber with a think white film for head.

Aroma: Spicy hops, bready yeast, very fruity.

Taste: Alcohol in the initial sip, burnt toast, tangerine, boatload of bitter hops, and honey. Finishes hot, spicy and bitter.

Mouthfeel: Very carbonated and hot.

Overall: Boom Shakalager is right. I think this beer could have cooled down for a month or two.
