Sweetwater Crank Tank Rye’d Ale
From SweetWater – This camp is an inspiration to me and the SweetWater employees so much so we created the Crank Tank Rye’d Ale so that we could have a product that contributed to their cause,” said SweetWater’s Big Kahuna, Freddy Bensch. “Camp Twin Lakes provides a safe and nonjudgmental environment for children with special needs – something they can’t always find in the real world. These children will touch your heart and inspire of all of us to raise even more money.”
SweetWater Brewing – SweetWater Crank Tank Rye’d Ale (Batch 1) – 22 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. 6.2% abv.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy amber gold with a sudsy small white head. Leaves behind webby lacing.
Aroma: Tangerine, pineapple and musty, rained on earth.
Taste: Right out of the gate, a large burst of hops, earthy malts, then the beer falls off a cliff into nothing. It amazes me how something that starts off at the gate so strong goes so quickly to nothing. My mouth is big, but not that big.
Mouthfeel: Thin, watery, modest carbonation.
Overall: A bit thin for me. Great aroma and initial taste, but the beer leaves much to be desired all and all. I will hopefully try the 2011 version and enjoy it more (this being my tasting notes from last year and all)
