Surly SurlyFest
From Surly Brewing – A traditional Oktoberfest bier from Surly? Nein! If you want one of those, grab your passport and head over to Munchen (bring us back some pretzels.) Our Fest inspired beer is brewed with imported malted barley, rye, and a German lager yeast strain. We hop this beer with a single variety… and then we dry hop it. A single hop, dry hopped, rye lager bier? Ja!
Surly Brewing – Surlyfest – 16 oz. Can poured into an English pint glass. 6.5% abv. Canned 9/23/10 Enjoyed 10/2/10, Thanks Tyler!
Appearance: Pours copper with a thin filmy cap of white. The body is translucent and hazy. Leaves behind spotty lacing.
Aroma: Fairly sweet malt, light herbal and citrusy hop.
Taste: Bready and earthy malts, spicy hop bitterness. Lots of lingering flavor.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, coating, with prickly carbonation.
Overall: An amazingly fresh, drinkable, complex lager. Good work.
