Stone/Green Flash/Pizza Port Carlsbad Highway 78 Scotch Ale
From Stone – A collaboration ale. Brewers:Chuck Silva of Green Flash Brewing Co., San Diego, Jeff Bagby of Pizza Port Carlsbad, Carlsbad and Mitch Steele of Stone Brewing Co., San Diego.
Stone Collaborations – Stone/Green Flash/Pizza Port Carlsbad Highway 78 Scotch Ale – 12 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 8.8% abv.
Appearance: Pours a dark amber with a thin sparse white film.
Aroma: Vanilla, plum, sassafras,rich brown sugar like malts.
Taste: Spicy hops, burnt sugar, bread crust, cola. Finishes with nutty lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Syrupy with lively bubbles.
Overall: A spicy sweet malty treat. Pretty awesome fresh. This was a three man weave that ended with a two no-look passes and a slam dunk.
Bonus: I haven’t met Jeff in person, but Chuck and Mitch are my local heroes. Some of the coolest dudes you will ever meet, who happen to make amazing beers.
