Stone 7th Anniversary Ale (7+ Years Later)
From Stone – A Super Special Pale Ale. Amber-ish/dark orange color, quite hoppy with a fruity aroma and upfront flavor. There is a hop-bitterness sting on the tongue at first with noticeable malt reminiscent of a sweet pastry, more fruity hop flavors linger and blend into a toasty-malty balance that comes through in the finish. This full bodied ale is placed nicely on the high side of the scale.
Stone Brewing Co. – Stone 7th Anniversary Ale – On tap at Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens Winter Storm 2011 – Released in August 2003. 7.7% abv.
Appearance: Pours a bright amber orange with a creamy, retained white head.
Aroma: Tangerine and pine.
Taste: Lemon, sugary malt, bitter hops, slight cardboard. Finishes bitter and warm.
Mouthfeel: Very carbonated, full bodied.
Overall: Not that bad, way better than the bottled counter part I tried 2 years prior. Night and day difference. This is a lesson in cellaring if I ever saw one.

I opened up a bottle of Stone 9th Anniversary last summer that had been in my beer cellar for a long time and was shocked at how well it had held up. I thought all hop character would have disappeared, but that wasn’t the case.
