Stockyard Oatmeal Stout
If you are looking to try some new beers, and haven’t figured out what it is you like, check out Trader Joes. They aren’t everywhere in the country, but they are popping up more and more all over the country. Trader Joes gets beers from all over the world, and only sells them to you if they can get the lowest price on them. Another cool thing is, they have various breweries such as Gordon Beirsch, Firestone Walker, and Goose Island making private label beers exclusively for Trader Joes. I found a wonderful Oatmeal Stout at TJ’s called Stockyard Oatmeal Stout, and after investigating, found out it is made by Goose Island in Chicago.
Stockyard Oatmeal Stout – 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass – ~5-6% abv.
Appearance: Almost jet black with 1/2 inch tan tight knit head.
Aroma: Baked chocolate and hazelnuts.
Taste: Semi-sweet chocolate and coffee. Both flavors linger on the middle of the tongue and battle for first place!
Mouthfeel: Syrupy with a good amount of carbonation. The carbonation is the vehicle for the chocolate and coffee aftertaste.
Overall: A wonderful beer to have after dinner. Very nice going down and a perfect price at $4.99 a six pack.

Really enjoy the Stockyard Oatmeal Stout. The chocolate and coffee are blended well in my opinion.

What ever happened to MacKeson sp?, Triple Stout? Trader Joes used to have it but not for the last two years…prox. About the time that Inbev bought Whitbred sp? Brewery, the ones who formulated it. Was the best!!

I believe it (Makeson XXX Stout) was a contract brew made by The Boston Beer Co. I think it was discontinued, but I’m not sure. Trader Joe’s definitely isn’t stocking it in my town either frownyface.gif

Don’t drink while surfing!
I saw this at TD today and bought a 6er. I LOVE outmeal stout! Honestly this is really Coffee Stout. If you are a Sam Smith fan you won’t like this. Think Starbucks brewed a beer a 9am and mass shipted it a 3pm. Harsh. Please add water and time.
