Smuttynose Zinneke
From Smuttynose – Named in honor of the doggy denizens of Brussels, this hybrid beer is a mix of what we love best in a big, roasty stout, but fermented with a Belgian yeast, which brings out a beautiful fruity nose. We set aside a portion of the batch to age in bourbon barrels to allow the stouts chocolate and caramel flavors to marry with the woods natural vanilla and toastiness. The final blend pairs well with both savory dishes and your favorite desserts.
Smuttynose Brewing – Smuttynose Zinneke – 22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 8.4% abv.
Appearance: Pours black with a creamy tan cap.
Aroma: Chocolate covered banana, vanilla, cereal.
Taste: Roasted malt, bourbon, wood, banana esters. Finishes roasty and woody.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Aversge carbonation.
Overall: A very flavorful, balanced Stout. Keeping this under 9% probably played a role in this beers wonderful complexity. Not a booze/bourbon bomb, yet not one of those bourbon barrel beers where you barely get any spirit/barrel character.
