SanTan Sex Panther Double Chocolate Porter
From SanTan Brewing – Sex Panther 2013 Double Chocolate Porter is a late Winter Seasonal that is brewed with Colonial Rosewood Cocoa and large amounts of Chocolate malt giving this beer a huge chocolaty flavor combined with hints of truffle and molasses. Summit hops are used to balance the sweetness and White Wheat is added to give Sex Panther a smooth, creamy head that lasts all night! Perfectly paired with smoked meats and sweet treats, Sex Panther is 6.5% ABV and dark as Chocolate. Enjoy!
SanTan Brewing – Sex Panther Double Chocolate Porter (Vintage 2013) – 12 oz. can poured into a goblet. 6.5% abv.
Appearance: Pours the darkest of browns with a thick tan ring around the edges of the glass.
Aroma: Roasted malt, medium roast coffee beans and vanilla.
Taste: Roasted malt with a little acidic twang, dark chocolate, black coffee. Finishes spicy with long roasty bitter sweetness.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Lively carbonation.
Overall: A very drinkable, tasty porter, but not particularly “double chocolaty.” I think a little more gravity would have gotten it to where my imagination wanted this beer to be.
