From Russian River Brewing – Supplication: Brown Ale aged in French oak Pinot Noir barrels with three strains of Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus, Pediococcus and sour cherries .
Russian River Brewing Co. – Supplication – Batch 004×3 – 375 ml bottle poured into a goblet – 7% abv.. From Whole Food Arroyo Pasadena, CA
Appearance: Pours an clear amber/copper with a dense fizzy white cap of film. Within the clear body, you can see plenty of visible rising bubbles. The beer leaves behind spotty lace.
Aroma: Fresh cut red apple, wine barrel, wine cork, musty basement and pear.
Taste: Both wood and acid duke it out on my tongue for the first big bold flavor to hit my mouth. As it settles, the sourness outlasts the woody notes. I’m amazed that between the wood and the sour notes, this beer doesn’t not seem very tanic or astringent to my tongue. I can pick out lemon and sour cherry for the fruits, and my imagination takes me to past prime orange juice
Mouthfeel: Thin to medium bodied, very fizzy and refreshing.
Overall: Very sour, very woody, but balanced and clean at the same time. Wow man!!
