Review – Weyerbacher Thirteen (1 Year Later)
From Weyerbacher – To celebrate our thirteenth year of brewing we decided to do something special to commemorate this momentous occasion. Thirteen is a Belgian-inspired Imperial Stout weighing in at 13.6%. This smooth sipper is made with 5 malts and a touch of oats.
Weyerbacher Brewing Co. – Weyerbacher Thirteen – 22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 13.6% abv. Thanks to Gary in Tampa.
Appearance: Dark brown with a thin line of tan bubbles.
Aroma: Dark fruit (prunes, black cherry, raisins, dark chocolate and dark rum.
Taste: Roasty burnt malt, black cherries, perhaps dipped in dark chocolate. White and black pepper lingers on the front of my tongue, and finishes like a nice espresso drink.
Mouthfeel: A thick mouthfeel, not sticky or syrupy though.
Overall: Still a magnificent beer. I find it to be more spicy then when it was fresh.
