Review – Wasatch – The Devastator
From Wasatch – This is a strong, amber lager (8% abv). It has a fluffy white head with a bready malt aroma and a rich body that leaves you with a warming feeling. This Double Bock style dates back over a century when Monastic brewers knew it as “liquid bread.” Beware . . . it’s deceivingly smooth and delicious.
Wasatch Brew Pub – The Devastaor Double Bock – 12 oz. bottle poured into a New Belgium beer glass. 8.0% abv.
Appearance: Pours a dark amber with a modest, off-white head.
Aroma: Bready malt, dry dead leaves.
Taste: Bready and caramel malts, fruitiness. Ends with typical bitterness from the style.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, almost thick.
Overall: Not a bad “double bock.” I like it a little more complex than this, but definitely drinkable.
