Review – Victory Hop Wallop
I wasn’t so sure I would be able to find a case of Victory Hop Wallop in Southern California, so I made a call to a very reliable source on the East coast, my dad. My dad got an entire case of Hop Wallop, and shipped it to me for Christmas. I come to find out a few places around here have a six or so, but it was the best present a boy could get none the less. There is much debate that all of the best double IPAs come from the west coast, however this fine ale holds its own.
Appearance: Poured from a 12oz bottle to a pint glass. Light apricot orange. Big creamy head.
Aroma: Pine and grapefruit right up front. Subtle hints of aftershave. Brown sugar, and a touch of honey will be found as this warms up a bit.
Taste: Bitter orange, huge hop flavor. Lemon and malt is very present.
Mouthfeel: Very thin yet sticky.
Overall: Highly drinkable. So many flavors going on, and you would never know this is an 8.5% abv brew. Probably the most boldly balanced double IPA around.
