Review – Three Floyds Barrel Aged Behemoth
The second brew I tried after Fantabulous Respendence at the Three Floyds BrewPub in Muster, IN was Barrel Aged Behemoth. Three Floyds took their barley wine, added sour cherries, and aged it in an oak barrel for MY PLEASURE. I am a sucker/drinker/collector of barley wine, and I am pretty sad I will have to go back to Munster in order to have it again.
Appearance: Dark mahogany, with not a bit of light getting through. A tad bit of lace, but no head what so ever.
Aroma: Cherries were all I could smell. Not a lame, artificial cherry candy smell, but fresh, ripe cherries.
Taste: Chocolate, vanilla, cherries and a hint of bourbon and caramel.
Mouthfeel: Velvety and sugary. This was thick and sticky.
Overall: So incredible. This is over 10%, and you are so busy trying to pick apart the wonderful flavors, you forget and keep sipping away.
