Review – Stone Pale Ale
From Stone Brewing Co. – Our flagship ale, Stone Pale Ale is our Southern California interpretation of the classic British pale ale style. Deep amber in color, Stone Pale Ale is robust and full flavored. A delicate hop aroma is complemented by a rich maltiness. This is an ale for those who have learned to appreciate distinctive flavor. Stone Pale Ale is great by itself, or with food that requires a beer of character.
Stone Brewing Co. – Pale Ale – 12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass – 5.4% abv. Purchased at Whole Foods Market, Arroyo Pasadena, CA.
Appearance: Pours a translucent amber with a 1/2 inch of thick white foam topping of head.
Aroma: Light whiffs of malt sweetness and as well as scents of earth and grass.
Taste: Starts off with heavy bitter hops. Then I get a nice English-like maltiness followed by some more bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Very carbonated and medium bodied.
Overall: A way better session beer than Levitation, an agressively hopped pale for fure. I like a bit more crispness and citrus in my California Pale Ales, however I wouldn’t classify this beer as a typical California Pale Ale, so for what it is, it is mighty drinkable.
