Review – Southern Tier Un-Earthly Imperial IPA
Evan of thefullpint.com was nice enough to send me a few 22oz of Southern Tier Un-Earthly Imperial IPA on a trade. I have heard nothing but great things about this beer. Keep in mind, I am spoiled with the likes of Stone, Green Flash, and Port Brewing in the DIPA department, but with an open mind, needed to continue my journey, and expand my horizons.
Southern Tier – Un-Earthly Imperial IPA 22oz Bomber poured into a my favorite glass.
Appearance: Bright murky orange. Very cloudy with a thin off-white head.
Aroma: Smells like orange juice and tonic. Very fruity and floral. The bitterness that you would taste hits the nose.
Taste: Orange, lemon and tons of hops.
Moutfheel: Very dry for an IPA, perfect carbonation, very smooth.
Overall: A one of a kind Double IPA. No malt bomb underneath the hop bomb. They used very flowery hops, and as Mike of thefullpint.com suggested, 42 degrees IS NOT how it should be served. At above 50, you can taste so much more. This is a sipper for sure. Give it a try, you will either like it or not, nothing in between.
