Review – Samuel Adams Octoberfest
Sam Adams: Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is brewed using five different roasts of malted barley. A decoction mash as well as a secondary fermentation add to this beer’s unique malt character.
Boston Beer Co. Samuel Adams Octoberfest 12oz bottle poured into a Samuel Adams Beer Glass. 5.7% abv.
Appearance: Pours a translucent, amber/orange with a small sudsy head. When you hold it up to some light you can see that it is moderately carbonated.
Aroma: A fresh, bready yeast smell with light notes of toffee or caramel.
Taste: Starts with a savory, bitter hop note on the sides of my mouth. As it rolls around, you will find some fruit notes followed by a burnt sugar finish.
Mouthfeel: Crisp, refreshing, yet the flavors coat and linger.
Overall: A great beer to introduce to the long drinking Coors Light guy or gal. A full bodied, flavorful, replica of a German Marzen. I find this on sale almost anywhere, and at $13.00 a 12 pack, it is worth buying even if you have your reservations.

I bought a six pack of this and ended up giving 4 of them away, I hated it so much. I expected something to remind me of my old trips to Munich for Oktoberfest, but I found the Sam Adams version totally bland. You mention Coors Light in your review – frankly, you might just as well drink Coors Light as drink this stuff, in my opinion.
For anyone who likes Oktoberfest beer, I would give this a miss and go with Widmer Brothers’ Okto instead – a vastlt superior beer.
