Review – Samuel Adams Longshot Traditional Bock
From the Boston Beer Co. – Created by homebrewer Alex Drobshoff. Alex’s Brew is a bright copper German inspired bock with a complex, full bodied mouthfeel. Hints of rich plum and cherry aromas paired with its toasty, malt flavor make this the perfect beer to linger over on a cool evening.
Samuel Adams – Longshot Traditional Bock – 12 oz. bottle poured into a Samuel Adams specialty glass. 6.8% abv. Purchased at Certified Market – Monrovia, CA.
Appearance: Pours a dark clear amber, showing visiable active carbonation and a small khaki head.
Aroma: Slight caramel malt aroma with a touch of fruit.
Taste: A mixture of caramel and bready malts finishing with moderate bitter hopping.
Mouthfeel: Thick, not too carbonated, very lingering, almost sticky.
Overall: A very flavorful beer, a bit sweet at first, but finishes with a crisp hop note, and a perfect level of fizz.
