Review – Port Brewing Older Viscosity 2008
From Port Brewing Co. – 100% Bourbon Barrel Aged Strong Ale. This is the oak aging beer which makes up the oak aged portion found in our Old Viscosity. This is aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrels for 6 months.
Port Brewing Co. – Older Viscosity, Vintage 2008 – 355ml bottle poured into a goblet. 12% abv. From Port Brewing 3rd Anniversary Party.
Appearance: Pours a midnight brown with a big tan head.
Aroma: Huge whiffs of whiskey bourbon and vanilla.
Taste: Roasted, smoked malts at first, followed by warm bourbon, dark fruits, peppery spice, and a nice twang of sorts on the ends.
Mouthfeel: I have never encountered this mouthfeel before. It was almost like chocolate bourbon rice cake. So light and fluffy in texture, simply amazing.
Overall: I liked everything about this beer, and even in sharing the 355ml, I took quite some time to finish my portion.
