Review – Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence
Chocolate Indulgence Stout(10 Year Anniversary Beer) by Brewery Ommegang, New York.
Caged and corked brown 750: Deep brown pour. Impenetrable core of black in the glass. Big lush capping of thickly set tan foam sits all fluffy, creamy, and delightfully frothy. Keeps a steady amount of foam always present and places lacing in a fine coat of sticky patches and dirty snowflakes.
The aroma is a landscape of chocolatey goodness thats quite bold on the nose. Roastyish, yes, toastyish, yes, chocolateyishness, most definately! Notes of graham cracker and cheese cake make for a unique addition of desserts.
Great taster too. Firm, smooth, soft, delicately natured in a fine dust and fluff of chocolate cream pie crust and filling. Maybe its all the holiday food thats making an impression with me here, but damn if this doesn’t completely bring to mind what the chocolate silk pie I had would be like in a beer. Yum.
Milky smooth and soft with about a medium body. Great overall easy going texture thats very silky with a nice little dry fluffy nudge of chocolate cake or silk pie.
This stuff rocks! Chocolate silk pie in a bottle! Gonna have to grab more before its gone cuz this stuff is a keeper for sure. Share, hoard, indulge, whatever…I know I’m gonna stick with the namesake and give in to my “Indulgence” of this great beer!
