Review – New Glarus Black Wheat
From New Glarus Brewing – Our Black Wheat arrives to relieve the bleak bore of Wisconsin’s winter. Rich and chewy this bottle conditioned weiss is bursting with Midwestern wheat, oats, rye and finished by malted barley. This style is a rare gem even in the Black Forests of Bavaria. We brew it now as an accompaniment to meaty feasts or to sip near a roaring fire.
New Glarus Brewing – Black Wheat – 12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. 5.75% abv. From Robert in Wisconsin!
Appearance: Pours a midnight brown with a frothy 1/2 inch.
Aroma: Roasty malts, toasted wheat, wit bier type spices and bread crust.
Taste: Bready malts, banana, bread crust, spicy hops.
Mouthfeel: Silky and thick.
Overall: Another great wheat beer from New Glarus. I take back my dislike for American Wheat Beers.
