Review – Founders Breakfast Stout

Founders Brewing Co. – Founders Breakfast Stout – 12 oz. bottle poured into a beer tasting glass. Acquired through trade online. 8.3% abv.

Appearance: Midnight brown with a brown ring atop of the glass.

Aroma: Coffee, black pepper, and tobacco.

Taste: A quick shot of black coffee on the middle of my tongue to start. Roasty malts take over. Finishes with a raw coffee grind flavor.

Mouthfeel: Thin yet silky.

Overall: A very unique and flavorful beer. I would have liked it better if it was thicker. I suppose there are a million Imperial/Oatmeal Stouts that are thick, so I guess this adds to its individuality.
