Review – Erie Brewing Railbender Ale
Erie Brewing Railbender Ale
6.8%
Appearance
Pale mustard color with shades of copper and orange shining through. Moderate head with not much
Aroma
Malty and biscuity with not much hop smell. The English yeast provides a faint smell of ripened fruits.
Taste
Complex malt flavor mingles nicely with the hops. A bit of a sweet taste at first, followed by a more mellow aftertaste.
Mouthfeel
Not much going on in the mouth. Slightly fizzy with a bit of bitterness on the inside of my cheeks and side of my tongue.
Overall
I first tried this beer at the Philly Beer Fest earlier this year and loved it. of all the beers that I tried that day, this one really stood out. I sought out the kind folks at Erie and they were nice enough to send me a few brews for sampling. I loved the Pils and even after knowing I’ve had this beer before, I was terribly excited to try it again with a clean palate and with pen and paper. It did not disappoint. Now, as I am sure was Erie’s intention, I have to head out and grab some to keep in the fridge. Kudos!
