Review – Coronado Islander IPA
From Coronado Brewing – Coronado island , aka “The Crown City” has a hidden jewel: our Islander IPA. Brewed within a mile of the pacific ocean this west coast IPA sweeps the senses with its intense hop bitterness, complex flavors and aromas. The Islander IPA pours a nice copper color with a medium body and maltiness. Silver medal winner at the 2007 L.A. County fair.
Coronado Brewing Co. – Islander IPA – 22 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. 7% abv. Purchased at Whole Foods Market – Hastings Ranch Pasadena, CA.
Appearance: Pours a bright amber gold, a tad cloudy, with a small white head.
Aroma: Orange and grapefuit right away, followed by some candy sweetness and a touch of pine.
Taste: Grapefruit and other citrus flavors, followed by some pine bitterness. The malt has flavors of caramel and turbinado sugar.
Mouthfeel: Thick but not sticky, a tad juicy.
Overall: A very full flavored, lovely West Coast IPA. Very bitter, but not astringent, finishes very clean.
