Review – Blue Point Blueberry Ale
Blue Point Brewing Co.
Blueberry Ale – 4.6% ABV

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a chilled pint glass.
Appearance – This ale is a beautiful light golden color. Looking into the glass you can see right through this beer and there is very little head retention – about 1/4 inch.
Aroma – Blueberries – duh! Smells like a fresh batch of blueberry pancakes or blueberry muffins. There are subtle piney hops fragrances in the background but you really have to look for them because the blueberries are so dominant.
Taste – This ale is very refreshing. It goes down smooth and has a light and mild, fruity taste from the berries. I also picked out the hops tingling in the back of my throat as a slightly bitter taste.
Mouthfeel – Slightly hoppy on the back of my tongue. The consistency is somewhat syrupy and sticky from the ale yeast used – again referencing the pancakes from the aroma above. This ale surprisingly has very little carbonation.
Overall – This beer is a little too fruity for me and so I wouldn’t drink more than one or two at a time. However, as a lover of blueberries, this unique ale hits the mark and is still very tasty.
