Served chilled and poured into a Weizen glass.
Appearance is good. Deep copper colored and clear brew with a nice clumpy off-white head. Nice amount of lacing in the glass. Carbonation bubbles slowly climbing to the top.
Smell is good. Big sweet malts with a sharp peppery sting. Candy (Belgium?) sugar and a yeasty funk.
Taste is very good. Exactly what you’d think an Imperial Oktoberfest would taste like. Large candy sweet malt bill followed by a sharp bitterness that finishes with a wonderful taste of red apples. Barely any alcohol bite. Very nice.
Mouthfeel is very good. Perfect carbonation. Fluffy and full in the mouth. Finishes crisp and bold yet relatively clean.
Drinkability is good. Finishing this bomber will be easy and I’d welcome another.
Overall:
I didn’t know what to make of an “Imperial Oktoberfest” but I came away pleasantly surprised. A big bold lager that is very enjoyable. Highly recommended.
