Review – Anderson Valley Brewing 20th Anniversary Imperial IPA
Anderson Valley Brewing has a great presence in Southern California, they are famous for Boont Amber Ale and Hop Ottin’ IPA, both very tasty brews.
Anderson Valley Brewing Company 20th Anniversary Imperial IPA. 22oz, 8.7% abv.
Appearance: Cloudy apricot colored orange. Carbonation visibly rising to the top. 50% light gets through and you can only make out the silhouette of an object through it.
Aroma: Oranges, especially orange peel. Sweet hops as well.
Taste: Bitter orange, malt and bread. Tons of alcohol.
Mouthfeel: Very think for a Double IPA.
Overall: Do not care for this beer at all. I look for the hops to ultimately prevail over the malts in a California Double IPA. This is a malty, bitter-in-a-bad-way hop bomb. I honestly couldn’t finish it.
