Pyramid Imperial Hefeweizen
Pyramid and Widmers are both famous for their rendition on a German Wheat Beer, known as Hefeweizen. I have never been a fan of the style, but it has become one of the most popular styles of beer in America. Last year, Pryamid made the first of its kind, Imperial Hefeweizen. Right then and there, it was something I had to try, regardless of my taste for American Wheat Beers. I finally got my hands on one recently, and gave it a try.
Appearance: Looks like a cold glass of cloudy apple cider. Colors of amber and orange were swirling about. Although other reviews have talked about a charged up head, I only had a pinstripe. This brew was made in the last quarter of 2007, so I believe mine was still within its freshness period.
Taste: Banana bread followed by bitter hops.
Mouthfeel: Thick and fruity.
Overall: An awesome concept with awesome results. i don’t like hefs, as mentioned, but I like this, and hope to see it again in the future.
