Port Brewing Shark Attack
Port Brewing – Shark Attack Double Red Ale – On tap at Lost Abbey tasting room. 9% abv.
Shark Attack – Imperial Red Ale at 10% abv poured from growler to Pizza Port Taster.
Appearance: Dark, ruby red. 1/2 inch foamy head. Not too cloudy.
Aroma: Sweet floral hops, sugary malts and apple skins.
Taste: Hops first and fore most. Then spices and sugar. When you take your initial sip, you would think it would be way to bitter, basted on the strong hop aroma in your face. The sugary malts take care of that.
Mouthfeel: A little on the sticky side, but not that thick. Not much bitter aftertaste.
Overall: If Hop 15 and Sharkbite Red were of opposite sex, and had an overgrown baby, it would be Shark Attack. Beautiful, would please big red fans, and IPA fans alike. Hopefully this will become part of the year ’round lineup.
