Pipeworks Brewing – Pipeworks Closer Encounter – 22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. 11% abv.
Appearance: Pours black with a sudsy tan ring around the edges.
Aroma: Herbal hop nose, coffee roast, light wet dog.
Taste: Herbal and citrusy hops, bitter chocolate/bitter black coffee, chocolate orange. Alcohol fairly hidden.
Mouthfeel: Slick, full bodied, a little oily. Modest carbonation.
Overall: A pretty tasty hoppy stout, probably the best one I’ve tried to date. I’m starting to pick up on Pipeworks house character across all their stouts too.
