Peace Tree Cornucopia
From Peace Tree – Late summer brings some of the best in local produce and Joe has made the best of it with Cornucopia, his farmhouse style ale brewed with Sweet corn from Dan-D Farms (they have the cool corn maze you should visit!) south of Knoxville. This was beer was originally brewed appeal to the locals around Knoxville who were new to craft beer and it was met lots of enthusiasm. It is an earthy, Belgian style beer with a hint of fruit to round it out. Although very drinkable, it is also a very complex beer that intrigues the seasoned craft beer drinker as well as the novice.
Peace Tree Brewing – Peace Tree Cornucopia – 12 oz.bottle poured into a goblet. Abv. unknown
Appearance: Pours a hazy yellow gold with absolutely no head after 20 seconds of pouring it.
Aroma: Grainy husky nose up front. Straw and fruity notes as well. Almost Kolch-like.
Taste: Spicy, fruity Belgian yeast, earthy, metallic bitterness that lingers in the finish. Rather dry and bitter.
Mouthfeel: On the thin side of medium bodied, very fizzy.
Overall: Much better than I imagined. It’s a real weird hybrid of a saison, macro pale lager and a Kolsch, or at least that’s what my senses told me throughout the session. I didn’t pick up any corn stalk sweetness as mentioned on the bottle type. Good session beer.
